Classic cinematography with a modern twist
Born in Halifax and raised in Ottawa, Mark Poirier studied film production at both Concordia and Simon Fraser universities. He is one of Canada’s most accomplished and well-rounded DoPs, with more than 20 years experience and 500 credits to his name. On features, documentaries and in broadcast television, Mark has worked in virtually every film format. His most recent projects have secured his place among the world’s few experts in IMAX® 3D photography. Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D hit IMAX theatres in March 2010; Legends of Flight 3D opened at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in June of that year. These two big-screen, IMAX® 3D successes will be joined in distribution in 2011 by Rescue 3D and Rocky Mountain Express.
Although he travels the world as a DoP, Mark, his partner and their four children call Ottawa, Canada home.
